The 54th Fun City Bowl brings New York City's most storied first responder football rivalry back to Long Island as the NYPD Finest face the FDNY Bravest. Born in 1973 from a bar argument between Brooklyn firefighter Pudgie Walsh and a Brooklyn cop over who fielded the better athletes, the Fun City Bowl has grown into the signature annual game of the National Public Safety Football League — a league of 20 teams made up exclusively of active firefighters, law enforcement officers, and EMT's competing for New York City bragging rights and the NPSFL Eastern Division title. Both organizations are entirely self-funded 501(c)(3) charities, with every dollar beyond operating costs donated to local causes. The NYPD Finest hold the all-time series lead in one of first responder football's most competitive and celebrated rivalries.
