The 53rd Fun City Bowl brings New York City's most storied first responder football rivalry back to Long Island as the FDNY Bravest face the NYPD Finest. Born in 1973 from a bar argument between Brooklyn firefighter Pudgie Walsh and a Brooklyn cop over who fielded the better athletes, the Fun City Bowl has grown into the signature annual game of the National Public Safety Football League — a league of 20 teams made up exclusively of active firefighters, law enforcement officers, and medical personnel. Both organizations are entirely self-funded 501(c)(3) charities, with every dollar beyond operating costs donated to local causes.
