Florida’s version of Deadliest Catch has begun as local recreational and commercial fisherman are baiting up their crab traps. The major percentage of all Stone Crab claws harvested are from the State of Florida and shipped all over the World. Stone Crab season runs from October 15th to May 15th each year. Recreational anglers can have 5 crab traps per person and be sure to measure your claws they must be 2 ¾ inch long to harvest. Crab traps are easy to build or buy them already made, I found the best local bait of choice is pig’s feet or fish.
