In post–World War I Copenhagen, a newly unemployed pregnant woman struggles to survive and finds refuge with a charismatic older woman who runs a secretive adoption operation. As their bond deepens and the work grows more morally fraught, an unsettling discovery forces her to question who she can trust and what the arrangement truly costs.
