Above And Beyond

85% on Rotten Tomatoes. Produced by Nancy Spielberg. Score by Hans Zimmer's Studio. Special effects by Industrial Light and Magic. In 1948, a group of American and foreign-born pilots secretly smuggled planes out of the United States, trained behind the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia, and flew for Israel in its War of Independence — laying the foundation for the Israeli Air Force. This is the story of the Machal: the volunteers from abroad who turned the tide of a war the new nation was close to losing. A gripping, little-known chapter of history told through new interviews with the now-elderly pilots and stunning archival aerial footage. Free with ads.
