A weary New York shoe repairman, stuck in the same family shop for generations, discovers a mysterious heirloom that lets him literally step into his customers’ lives. As he tries on new identities, he begins to see his neighborhood—and himself—differently, learning that empathy can come from walking in someone else’s shoes.
