Michael Laerza is a drifter cursed to be Death’s instrument: wherever his bare skin touches, life ends. Living in isolation and unable to die himself, he wanders until he encounters Mo and her chronically ill young son, Brady, a child who inexplicably refuses to die. Drawn into their lives, Michael finds the voices fade and hope return, only to be confronted by Death itself, demanding he fulfill his role. When Michael discovers his power is not death but choice, he must decide whether to obey fate or sacrifice himself to protect the family he’s learned to love.
