In 1926 Britain, a world-famous escape artist arrives in Edinburgh while publicly challenging psychics and spiritualists. A struggling mother-and-daughter act sees a chance at a big cash reward, but their scheme turns complicated when attraction, grief, and questions about belief and deception start to blur the lines between performance and real feeling.
